The Santa Cova (Holy Cave) Chapel is a small, yet profoundly significant chapel nestled into the mountainside of Montserrat, near Barcelona, Spain. The Santa Cova Chapel was built to commemorate this miraculous event and to house the sacred cave. Visitors can reach the Santa Cova Chapel via a scenic walk from the Montserrat Monastery, taking approximately 20-30 minutes. Alternatively, a funicular railway provides a quicker and easier ascent. Inside the chapel, you can admire the beautiful stained-glass windows, the intricate mosaics, and the peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding area offers stunning views of the Catalan countryside, making it a perfect spot for contemplation and reflection.
Transportation
To reach Montserrat Monastery, take the FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) R5 train from Plaça Espanya station in Barcelona towards Manresa. Get off at either Aeri de Montserrat (for the cable car) or Monistrol de Montserrat (for the rack railway). From the Monastery, you can walk to the Santa Cova or take the Funicular de la Santa Cova.
